Two teams whose respective seasons ended abruptly will attempt to play for a their share of a $500,000 NIL prize pool Wednesday, when the Baylor Bears (16-16, 6-12 Big 12) take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers (15-17, 8-12 Big Ten) in the College Basketball Crown.

This winner of this quarterfinal will advance to take on the winner of Oklahoma vs Colorado in one semifinal.

Despite both schools not seeing game action in three weeks, the books like the Bears to advance.

Baylor vs Minnesota Picks

• Pick: Under 148.5 points (-110 at FanDuel)

Baylor hasn’t played a game since its 83-79 loss to Arizona State in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament, which was played on March 10.

That’s a lot of time to expect a team to pick up offensively, especially one that ranks 67th in the nation putting up a solid 82.5 points per game.

They’re led by the dynamic backcourt of Cameron Carr, who leads the team in scoring at 19.2 points per game and Tounde Yessoufou who is putting up nearly 18 per contest.

But the Bears enter this tournament with just six wins in their final 20 games of the season, and alternating wins and losses in each of the last seven meetings. Their defense got mashed in that stretch, allowing more than 84 points per game in their last four losses.

Baylor vs Minnesota Key Stats

The Golden Gophers have a defense that can also alter any high scoring plans, allowing 68.5 points per game, which ranked Top 4 in the Big Ten this season.

They last played on March 11, losing to Rutgers 72-67 in the second round of the Big Ten tournament. Consistency was a problem they faced, as Minnesota alternated wins and losses in six straight.

Senior guard Cade Tyson (19.6 ppg) leads five Golden Gophers in double-figure scoring, and he’s flanked by Langston Reynolds who leads the team in assists at 4.6 assists per outing.

Minnesota’s problem is that they rank outside of the Top 100 in almost every meaningful offensive statistical category, including 46% shooting from the field (147th), 34.8% shooting from 3-point range (158th) and 70 points per game (279th).

The Gophers’ combination of lack of scoring and solid defense makes Baylor the right dance partner — and marks the first time these schools have ever squared off.

Don’t worry that each of their Over totals were high down the stretch: acclimatizing to competitive hoops again will take its toll, and should push the total to the Under.

Baylor vs Minnesota Odds

Baylor enters this contest as the betting favorite, giving 3.5-points at -115 odds. Minnesota gets those extra 3.5 points, that pay out at -105.

The moneyline is set at +146 for the Golden Gophers to pull off an upset, while Baylor is a short -1798. The total checks in at 148.5 points, with -110 odds on either side.

LSU is the favorite to win the College World Series after winning it all last year, but I am looking elsewhere when locking in my college baseball futures bets for 2026.

Only one team will hoist the trophy, and I have three best bets on who that team will be. Keep reading for my best college baseball picks ahead of the 2026 season.

College World Series Picks

There are three teams that I am betting to win the CWS in 2026. Despite the SEC winning six straight College World Series, I am only putting a future on one team from the Southeastern Conference.

UCLA Bruins (+1200)

The Bruins from UCLA are the #1 team in the rankings heading into the year. Despite that, they have just the third-best odds, trailing LSU and Arkansas, which coincidentally are the two teams that served the Bruins a loss in Omaha last season.

This team is led by the presumed #1 overall pick in the MLB Draft, Roch Cholowsky. The shortstop hit .353 last year with 23 home runs and helped the Bruins get to Omaha in 2025. Cholowsky is not the only one coming back, however, as multiple batters who hit over .300 will return this season. In fact, eight of the nine starters are returning from last year. This team is both talented and experienced, which is important in Omaha.

The pitching held this team back at times, but Michael Barnett will be back with another year of starting under his belt. The team will benefit from adding San Diego starter Logan Reddeman, who had a 2.98 ERA last year.

What I like about the Bruins, outside of the talent, is their schedule. The SEC has so many dominant teams that they can struggle down the stretch. UCLA will not have that problem in the Big Ten. They can accumulate wins to get a high enough seed to host a regional and super regional and play key games at home, where they went 31-7 in 2025.

Because of this, I also like UCLA to reach the College World Series at +175 odds. They should have no problem getting to Omaha in 2026, and I would be shocked if they are an early exit.

Georgia Bulldogs (+1800)

Out of all the talented teams in the SEC, Georgia is the one I am backing in 2026.

The Bulldogs hit the portal hard, bringing in 22 Division 1 transfers this offseason. It might take a little time to gel, but the talent and experience are no doubt there. They do return their catcher and infielders, so they have experience at some premium positions.

Once this team figures it out, watch out. They have the pitching and the bats to contend in the College World Series.

Georgia has been a strong program of late under Wes Johnson, but they have not been able to translate that into postseason success. After this roster overhaul, that can change in 2026.

North Carolina Tar Heels (+2000)

My last pick to win the College World Series is North Carolina. I was high on this team last year, and they just fell short in Omaha.

Pitching is very important once you get to the postseason, and few teams have the depth and firepower that the Tar Heels have on the mound. Jason DeCaro and Ryan Lynch are returning and figure to be key pieces in the rotation.

The reason why North Carolina is so low in the betting odds is because they lost a lot of their offensive production. Still, they have enough guys returning that I think belive they have what it takes to get to Omaha. They also brought in some talented transfers that could provide a spark in the lineup.

I prefer pitching over hitting in the College World Series, and if the Tar Heels get back to the College World Series, DeCaro can take them where they want to go.

The College World Series champion could be decided as early as today if the LSU Tigers (52-15) beat the Coast Carolina Chanticleers (56-12) in Game 2 of the best-of-three series.

The Tigers took down Coastal Carolina with a nail-biting 1-0 win on Saturday, and are in position to claim their eighth CWS title on Sunday. Coastal Carolina is far from out of it: a win sets up a winner-take-all Game 3 on Monday.

Game 2 starts at 2:30pm ET from Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, with ABS/ESPN+ carrying the broadcast.

LSU vs Coastal Carolina Odds

The Game 2 LSU/CCU odds are ridiculously close, with LSU just a slight -125 favorite to the Chanticleers’ -105. On the runline, Coastal Carolina is -160 to keep this within a run or better, while LSU is +130 to win by two or more runs. The total is set at 8.5 runs, with the under the prevailing favorite at -130 odds.

The College World Series odds have LSU as the betting favorite to take it all at -190, with Coastal Carolina at +155 to win its second national championship in school history.

LSU vs Coastal Carolina Picks & Prediction

• Under 8.5 runs (-130) at bet365

No matter who wins, I expect similar, low-scoring drama on Sunday. LSU hasn’t finalized its starter yet, but it’s believed to be second ace Anthony Eyanson, who will only have to follow one of the great pitching performances in CWS history: Kade Anderson went the distance for LSU in Game 1, surrendering just three hits and striking out 10 on a career-high 130 pitches.

Eyanson wasn’t great his last time out, when he lasted just three innings against UCLA, giving up four hits, three earned runs and striking out one.

Still, the Tigers hit there way to a 9-5 win that day, and they’ve now reeled off seven straight victories. In the process, they managed to stop Coastal Carolina’s 26-game win streak. It’s the first loss for the Chanticleers since April 22 to the College of Charleston.

The Chanticleers will have their ace Jacob Morrison on the bump in the hopes of extending this series. His last appearance was a memorable one, as the 6-foot-8 Morrison led Coastal Carolina to a 6-2 victory. The Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year threw 7.2 innings of five-hit ball, striking out seven, and retiring 16 straight batters in a row at one point. Morrison was third in wins in all of DI baseball with 12, while racking up 102 strikeouts in 104 innings pitched.

With this expected pitching matchup, the real question will be who can find enough offense to get ahead ahead in Game 2.

The Tigers have scored a total of 20 runs across four games at the College World Series. This was an offense that crushed West Virginia, outscoring them 28-14 over two games to clinch a spot in Omaha.

The Chanticleers have had a little more offensive pop at the CWS, even after getting shut out in Game 1. They had put up 23 runs across the first three games en route to the final series.

This is no surprise though, as they square with an SEC team. They only mustered 11 total runs to get by Auburn in the Super Regional.

I think whoever does take Game 2, it will be close, well-pitched and way under the total.

The last time Coastal Carolina (56-11) lost a baseball game, the NBA and NHL playoffs were less than a week old, and Rory McIlroy was still basking in the glow of his Masters win. Fast forward two months later, and online sportsbooks are finally expecting CCU’s incredible winning streak to be snapped. They’ve pegged LSU (46-15) as favorites in Game 1 of the College World Series on Saturday, with both teams entering play undefeated since June 1st.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm ET at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, with ESPN and ESPN+ providing the coverage.

Coastal Carolina vs LSU Picks

• Coastal Carolina +1.5 (-135 at Bet365)

In Omaha, we’ve come to expect the unexpected. It seems nearly every year a longshot goes on a Cinderella run to take a run at the title, but 2025 produced no such fairy tales after the Super Regionals. The Chanticleers and Tigers were considered two of the best teams to make the CWS, and so far they haven’t disappointed.

CCU has outscored its opponents 24-9 in Omaha, and are fresh off an 11-3 drubbing of Louisville in the semis. LSU, meanwhile, squeaked out a pair of close victories over Arkansas, sandwiched between a comfortable win over UCLA. Online sportsbooks have been more bullish on the Tigers than Chanticleers in the College World Series odds, but I’m not about to fade Coastal Carolina given their form and phenomenal pitching.

CCU features a three-headed monster on the mound in Riley Eikhoff, Cameron Flukey and Jacob Morrison, the ladder of which will start on Saturday. The trio own the second-lowest starting ERA in the nation, and have been lights out all season.

Morrison boasts a perfect 12-0 record this season, with a tidy 2.08 ERA. He’s just the second pitcher over the past five seasons with double-digit starts in which he lasted 6+ innings and gave up 1 run or less. The other, LSU alum Paul Skenes.

Jacob Morrison vs Kade Anderson Stats

Morrison was dominant in a 6-2 win over Oregon State last time out. He pitched 7.2 innings of 1-run ball, scattering only five hits and striking out 7. That followed up a 6-strikeout, 1 run performance in a Super Regionals victory over Auburn, a team that was ranked higher than LSU. The 6-8, 245-pounder has yielded more than two runs only once since the middle of March, averaging over a strikeout per inning along the way.

The Tigers will counter with Kade Anderson, who’s in the mix to be the number one pick in the MLB Draft. LSU has won five of Anderson’s last six starts, with the lefty allowing 3 runs or less in five of them. The lone exception came in the Super Regionals against West Virginia, when the Mountaineers lit him up for 9 hits and 7 runs.

Coastal Carolina’s lineup isn’t reminiscent of a typical contender, as they don’t rely on power at all. In fact, the next home run they hit a the College World Series will be their first of the tournament. CCU generates offense by playing small ball. They’re on base constantly, and they rely on speed and timely hitting to get runners across the plate.

CCU vs LSU Offensive Stats

It’s a strategy that’s treated them well recently, as they’ve averaged 8 runs per game since Regionals started. LSU, on the other hand, has a more star-studded approach. Derek Curiel and Steven Milam are future 1st round picks, while few teams can match their 110 home run output. The Tigers boast a higher scoring average and slugging percentage than their opponent, but their lineup has had a bit of trouble scoring runs versus elite arms.

LSU scored only 10 runs total in two games versus the Razorbacks earlier this week, and needed a calamity of errors by Arkansas to avoid a sudden-death elimination game. They can’t expect that type of performance from the Chanticleers, who boast exceptional defensive metrics. They also boast one of the best bullpens in the league, giving opposing hitters no break once the relievers enter the game.

Given the pitching matchup is incredibly close, I’ll side with the better defense/bullpen combo, and the team that doesn’t need to rely on power to manufacture runs. My official pick is Coastal Carolina +1.5, but I’ll take a sprinkle of their moneyline as well.

LSU has been among the CWS favorites all season. The Tigers were sitting at +750 back in February and started the 64-team tournament as a +625 bet. They came to Omaha as the +225 second-favorite to the Arkansas team they beat twice to win Bracket 2.

Coastal Carolina on the other hand was a massive +10000 longshot back in February and had only improved to +2800 when the tournament began. The Chanticleers were the +600 third-favorite when the final eight teams arrived in Nebraska.

Coastal Carolina ran through Bracket 1, going a perfect 3-0 with dominant wins over Arizona (7-4), Oregon State (6-2), and Louisville (11-3). They finished the first three rounds with a +15 run differential.

LSU was equally dominant in Bracket 2, beating Arkansas (4-1), UCLA (9-5), and Arkansas – the pre-tournament favorite – a second time in the semifinals (6-5). LSU’s second win over Arkansas on Wednesday night included a bottom-of-the-ninth comeback from 5-3 down.

There wasn’t much overlap in the LSU and Coastal Carolina schedules this season, but they do have three common opponents from the regular season:

Game 2 will be on Sunday, June 22nd at 2:30 pm ET.

The 6th-ranked LSU Tigers (50-15) can book their spot if they can do what they did at the start of the CWS: knock of the 3rd-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks (50-14).

The Razorbacks gutted their way through the elimination side to set up this showdown, and will need to knock off the Tigers in back-to-back games to advance. Action gets underway Thursday night at 7:00 pm ET from Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, with ESPN/ ESPN+ carrying the broadcast.

The winner of this finale squares off with the winner between no. 13 of Coastal Carolina-Louisville in a best-of-three series to determine the CWS champion. The latest College World Series odds have LSU as the betting favorite to take it all at +100, with Arkansas in the three-spot at +280. Coastal Carolina (+215) is sandwiched in between, with Louisville a distant +2000 underdog.

• Arizona ML (-130) at FanDuel

The Razorbacks were sent on this path as they were outpitched in the CWS opener, losing to LSU 4-1.

They have responded like gangbusters, with pitching and hitting contributing on their tightrope act to get back into the winner’s side and get another shot at the Tigers.

Gage Wood set the tone for the Razorbacks, throwing the first no-hitter in MCWS play since 1960 in a 3-0 win-or-go-home game against Murray State. Wood wowed Omaha, striking out 19 batters when going the distance.

SEC player of the year Wehiwa Aloy did the heavy lifting in a 7-3 win over UCLA to bring them all the way back. He blasted his 21st homer of the year, a 2-run job to get things going in the first, then added an RBI triple in the fourth.

The Tigers took care of business on their end, dispatching the Bruins earlier to stay undefeated in Omaha with a 9-5 victory. Stormy weather forced this one to be played over two days, but the Tigers managed to maintain the momentum they had built in opening a 5-3 lead.

Pitcher Casan Evans pitched 4 1/3 scorless innings in the restart, surrendering just four hits and one walk, while striking out five Bruins.

Jared Jones had the big hit of the day drilling a 3-run homer to give LSU a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

The Tigers have now won both their games in the CWS by knocking the starting pitcher out before the fourth inning.

Starters have not been announced yet, but it’s likely LSU will start Kade Anderson. He did a number on Arkansas in the opener, going seven innings, allowing just three hits, one run, and striking out seven.

Because Zach Root started against the Bruins in their elimination game, it is probably Gabe Gaeckle who gets the call for Arkansas. He pitched six innings in relief of Groot agianst LSU, striking out 10, allowing just three hits and one earned run.

These teams are so evenly matched, I just don’t see this not getting pushed to a deciding, winner-take-all with a spot in the College World Series finale on the line.

We’re down to four at the College World Series as play resumes Wednesday with a double-header. Up first is Louisville vs Coastal Carolina, as the Chanticleers look to extend their incredible winning streak. Online sportsbooks certainly like their chances, pegging CCU as massive favorites ahead of this matchup.

First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 pm ET at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, with ESPN and ESPN+ providing the coverage.

Louisville vs Coastal Carolina Picks and Prediction

• Coastal Carolina -1.5 (-135)

For those of you who have been living under a rock, you might be surprised to learn that the Chanticleers are undefeated since April 22nd. They’ve won 25 straight games, 16 of which have been by 4+ runs. They’ve outscored their first two CWS opponents 13-6, and are one win away from the championship series.

Entering play this afternoon, only LSU boasts shorter College World Series odds than CCU. The Chanticleers are far from your average title contender however, as they dominate with pitching and defense, rather than overpowering offense. Coastal Carolina is the only team who hasn’t hit a home run in Omaha. Instead, they play small ball, manufacturing runs with smart base running and timely hitting.

On the mound, no team in the nation boasts a better trio of starters, and Game 1 starter Riley Eikhoff is in line to get the ball today. The redshirt Senior has posted a 2.98 ERA this season, allowing two or fewer runs in four straight starts. Eikhoff isn’t a big strikeout producer, but he initiates plenty of soft contact and doesn’t put runners on base. He’s walked only 10 batters in 84 innings, and immaculate control is a CCU calling card.

The Chanticleers own a nation-best 8% walk rate. Their starters boast the second best ERA in the country, while the bullpen ranks fifth in that category and 18th in WHIP. They don’t allow cheap runs, and rarely surrender dingers. Combine that with exceptional defense, and you have a team that is extremely tough to score against.

LOU vs CCU Offensive Stats

As for Louisville, they’re facing their third elimination game of the tournament after surviving knockout contests against Arizona and Oregon State. It seems unlikely they’re fit to withstand another, especially given the weakened state of their arms. The Cardinals have very few fresh arms remaining after playing Sunday and Tuesday. Game 1 starter Patrick Forbes should be available, but after the staff ace the cupboard is bare.

That’s a problem against a Coastal Carolina team that not only wins, but has been covering run lines for two straight months. They’ve won 55 games this season, more than any other team in College Baseball. They rank second in the computer polls, 24 spots higher than Louisville. 23 of CCU’s last 25 wins have come by 2+ runs, while they’ve outscored the opposition by 47 runs since the start of the Sun Belt Tournament. I’m picking them to cover the run line once again, and book their ticket to the championship round.

The best odds we can find on Coastal Carolina -1.5 is -135 at Bet365. CCU is a -238 moneyline favorite, with Louisville coming back as a +180 underdog. The total currently sits at 11, which feels a bit high given the Chanticleers pitching prowess.

Coastal Carolina and LSU are in the driver’s seat in the College World Series. Both need just one win today to advance to the College World Series Finals, which start on Saturday, June 21. Louisville and Arkansas need a win to force a Game 7 in their bracket that will be played tomorrow.

LSU is the current favorite in the latest College World Series odds, but they will have a tough game today against Arkansas, who what the favorite to win the National Championship heading into the College World Series.

College World Series Picks

College Baseball Pick #1: Coastal Carolina -1.5 vs Louisville

I have bet against Louisville a lot in the College World Series, and it has not gone my way, but I am doing it again today against Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers have won 25 straight games and predict that they will win again to advance to the College World Series Final.

Riley Eikhoff threw 45 pitches against Arizona in Game 1, so he is available for the Chanticleers, who have the second-best team ERA in the country. Louisville, on the other hand, has thrown a lot of different pitchers the past few days as they have battled through the losers’ bracket. Their ace, Patrick Forbes, could be available in relief if the Cardinals go down early, but they likely want to save him for a potential Game 7 tomorrow.

Coastal Carolina is -2.5 at multiple books, but there are still some -1.5s out there, and that is a good value for a team that has not lost since April 22. Both of these teams are similar in the fact that they put pressure on opposing defenses, but I trust Coastal Carolina more. Louisville has capitalized on mistakes from the other team, but Coastal does not make mistakes defensively, as they finished first in the Sun Belt in fielding percentage this season. Louisville has had a tremendous run in Omaha, but it ends today against the Chanticleers.

College Baseball Pick #2: Louisville/Coastal Carolina Over 11

Even with Coastal Carolina’s pitching, I believe runs will be scored in Omaha on Thursday afternoon. Both lineups fit perfectly in Omaha’s ballpark. They manufacture runs by getting on base, stealing, and bunting. Even when home runs are not being hit, both teams find ways to get runs. Louisville has scored three runs, eight runs, and seven runs in its three College World Series games.

The Cardinals will not go down without a fight, so they should score runs here in Omaha. Coastal Carolina has not hit a home run in the College World Series, but they still scored seven runs and six runs in their two CWS games. Coastal has the pitching advantage, which is why I believe they will win, but I also like the over in the afternoon game.

College Baseball Pick #3: LSU ML vs Arkansas

The rematch that everyone expected and wanted to see happens tonight. The two CWS favorites heading into the tournament play each other again. If LSU wins, they will reach the College World Series Final. If Arkansas wins, they will force a Game 7 in Bracket 2.

Arkansas will likely have Landon Beidelschies on the mound, who has not pitched since regionals. Gabe Gaeckle will also likely throw some pitches in relief for the Razorbacks. Beidelschies has a .492 ERA on the season and struggled with LSU during the regular season, allowing three earned runs through two innings in his one appearance against the Tigers.

LSU is 3-1 against Arkansas this season, and I believe they will get another win tonight. Their lineup has been more impressive, and the Tiger fans will be loud in Omaha. Arkansas’s lineup came together towards the end of the UCLA game, but they struggled against LSU in Game 1 and against Murray State in their second game.

The Tigers’ pitching staff is more vulnerable tonight without Kade Anderson, Anthony Eyanson, and Casan Evans, but they still have enough arms to deploy to get the win tonight against the Razorbacks.

The winner will earn a date with LSU in the semifinals, while the loser will head home. First pitch from Charles Schwab Field in Omaha is set for 6:00 pm CT/7:00 pm ET.

The Bruins had the misfortune of being postponed due to weather in the fourth inning against LSU on Monday night, and had to play 5.5 innings on Tuesday morning. The Razorbacks, the pre-tournament favorites, were always going to be favored, but now the Arkansas vs UCLA odds heavily favor the Razorbacks advancing to meet their SEC rivals.

UCLA used eight pitchers during its 9-5 loss to LSU, which spanned Monday night and Tuesday morning. Arkansas is in much better shape; Gage Wood pitched a complete-game no-hitter against Murray State yesterday and the Razorbacks had Sunday off.

ARK vs UCLA Common Opponents

Arkansas has faced just one Big Ten team all season, beating Michigan 8-6 in a neutral-site game at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX, back on February 23rd. The Bruins were 2-0 against Michigan this season, obliterating the Wolverines 22-5 at home on March 4th, and also taking a 7-5 decision in Omaha during the Big Ten Tournament.

Similarly, UCLA played just one SEC team (before the Monday/Tuesday meeting with LSU), losing 8-3 to Vanderbilt at home on February 28th in the Southern California College Baseball Classic. Arkansas was an impressive 3-0 against Vandy, taking 9-0, 6-4, and 7-3 victories on the road from March 28th to 30th.

Including the CWS, the other common opponents shared by Arkansas and UCLA are:

• Washington State: Arkansas went 4-0, UCLA went 1-0
• Murray State: both teams went 1-0
• LSU: Arkansas is 1-3, UCLA is 0-1

ARK vs UCLA Probable Pitchers

Editor’s note: Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn has confirmed that Zach Root will start on Tuesday night. Root has made 18 starts this season and logged a team-high 94.1 IP. He was pulled after just 38 pitches (1.2 IP) in Saturday’s loss to LSU. Root posted a 3.82 ERA with 121 strikeouts while allowing 33 walks and seven home runs. The remainder of this section was written prior to the announcement.

With Gage Wood coming off a 119-pitch no-hitter last night and Zach Root on just three days’ rest, it would make sense for Arkansas to start Landon Beidelschies, who posted a 4.92 ERA in 12 starts (15 appearances) this season, going 4-0 in the process. Beidelschies hasn’t pitched since throwing two innings in relief during a 6-2 over North Dakota State on May 30, so he’ll be very well rested.

Realistically, though, Arkansas is going to lean heavily on its bullpen, which got the night off yesterday during Wood’s complete game and had an off-day on Sunday.

The Bruins are in a much worse situation, pitching-wise; they used their top two starters in the last two games (Landon Stump started against LSU and Michael Barnett started against Murray State), and third starter Ian May pitched in relief earlier today (24 pitches in 0.2 innings). A total of eight pitchers saw action during the LSU game on Monday/Tuesday, and five of those same pitchers (May, Wylan Moss, Jack O’Connor, August Souza, and Easton Hawk) also pitched on Sunday against Murray State.

There is only one UCLA pitcher who has appeared in the last seven games and didn’t pitch in the last three days: Cal Randall (3.09 ERA, 1.29 WHIP in 23.1 innings, all in relief). Coach John Savage has been relying heavily on the same half-dozen arms throughout UCLA’s postseason run.

Arkansas vs UCLA Picks & Prediction

• Arkansas -2.5 (-125)

This has all the trappings of a rout. UCLA is down to scraps when it comes to pitchers, while the Razorbacks have a full complement of relief arms to get them through nine innings. Arkansas boasts the tenth-best team ERA in all of DI (3.92), which half a run better than UCLA in 24th (4.40), despite the Razorbacks playing a much tougher SEC slate.

Arkansas also hits for a higher average (20th at .310 vs UCLA in 54th at .298) and for more power, sitting fourth in total home runs (125) compared to UCLA in 55th with just 78.

Arkansas may no longer be the favorite in the College World Series odds (sitting at +600, well behind LSU at +120 and CCU at +195), but they are better than UCLA in almost every statistical category and are in much better shape in terms of available pitchers.

Louisville has already survived one elimination game at the College World Series. Can they survive another on Tuesday versus Oregon State? Online sportsbooks don’t believe so, but I’d be hesitant to back the Beavers after the way they’ve performed in their first two outings.

First pitch for this CWS elimination game is set for 2:07 pm ET at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, with ESPN and ESPN+ providing the coverage.

Louisville vs Oregon State Picks and Predictions

• Louisville +1.5 (+100)

As of Tuesday morning, neither team has named a starter for today’s contest. Both the Cardinals and Beavers burned their third starter with bullpen work last time out, meaning each side will need to deploy multiple arms in their bid to advance. That’s good news for Oregon State, as their mighty offense has struggled badly in two games versus elite pitching.

They’ve mustered only six runs and four extra-base hits in games versus Louisville and Coastal Carolina, after being one of the most potent lineups all season. Their strikeout-prone ways have been a major issue, as they’ve fanned 22 times already. They should find more success against the backend of the Cardinals staff in this matchup, and the can take solace in the fact that they’re 5-0 in elimination games this season.

LOU vs ORST Offensive Stats

That’s not to say you should run to the window to bet the Beavers against Louisville. Oregon State has not only been undisciplined at the plate, striking out 22 times while drawing only three walks, but they’ve also been incredible sloppy in the field. They’ve committed five errors in two games. You might be able to overcome that type of effort with an A+ arm on the mound, but not when you’re trying to scrape together innings with less talented options.

Louisville on the other hand, has not experienced the same type of offensive letdown as Oregon State. The Cardinals are one of the few teams in the nation that can match the Beavers firepower, and they’ve crossed the plate 11 times through two outings versus them and Arizona. Louisville is also a menace on the base path. They’ve stolen bases at one of the country’s highest rates all season, and are an excellent clutch hitting team with runners in scoring position.

The Cardinals average over a run more per game than the Beavers, and boast a better average and slugging percentage. They’re 2-0 in postseason elimination games so far, and aren’t underperforming versus their baseline like Oregon State is.

The Beavers may have shorter College World Series odds than Louisville, but there is no way the Cardinals should be catching 1.5 runs at even odds in this matchup. Online sportsbooks are expecting Oregon State’s lineup to come alive today, but I’m willing to bet Louisville can trade punches with them. I’ll gladly take them on the runline, while sprinkling a little action on their moneyline as well.

That contest was Game 1 of the College World Series, with Oregon State ultimately prevailing on a walk-off hit. This game profiles to be just as close, but I’m predicting a reversal of fortune for Louisville.

LSU is a large favorite in this contest, with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 pm CT/7:00 pm ET from Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. Coverage will again be broadcast via ESPN.

The College World Series features eight teams in a double-elimination format with two brackets of four teams each. LSU is now the top favorite (+150) in the College World Series odds after beating pre-tournament favorite Arkansas (4-1) on Saturday. UCLA, which got by underdog Murray State (6-4), is the third-favorite (+600)

UCLA vs LSU Picks & Predictions

• UCLA and LSU Under 9.5 Runs (-112 at FanDuel)

We could be going to the well too often. However, both UCLA and LSU struggled to score runs on Saturday. LSU scratched across four runs and UCLA scored only six times on Murray State. That surprised some people. UCLA was expected to breeze past the Racers, but Murray State stayed in the game and nearly rallied from an early six-run deficit.

Anthony Eyanson starts for LSU. Eyanson is 11-2 on the year with 142 strikeouts in 98.2 innings plus a 2.74 ERA. Landon Stump counters for UCLA. He went 6-1 on the year with a 4.54 ERA, 62 strikeouts, and 37 walks in 62+ innings pitched. Both pitchers are right-handed.  The junior LSU starter has a bit more experience and control with only 35 walks.

Casan Evans shut the door against Arkansas in the ninth inning but Kade Anderson was masterful going seven innings, allowing one run, and striking out seven. Some timely defense and clutch hitting paved the way to victory.

Yes, LSU does it right down to their formula from 2023. It is no exception this season. Pitching and defense win national championships. The Tigers again get enough timely hitting to win. LSU knows they are facing a UCLA team predicated on producing offense. Eyanson comes in holding batters to a .211 batting average, and the SEC features some of the best offenses in the nation.

LSU is going for its eighth national championship. This is UCLA’s first MCWS appearance since their 2013 championship campaign.

The Bruins squeaked through the Big Ten season, tying Oregon with a 22-8 record. The 15th-ranked Bruins won their regional and super regional at home. UCLA has several dangerous batters. Big Ten Player of the Year Roch Cholowsky knocked in 74 runs to go along with 23 home runs while batting .362. Mulivai Levu led the team with 85 RBI. UCLA runs a good bit; the Bruins have 62 stolen bases on 80 attempts. LSU pitchers will have to be mindful of their small-ball game.

Again, LSU must keep the game in front of them much like they did against Arkansas. Scoring early allowed the Tigers to keep the pressure squarely on the favored Razorbacks. Arkansas could never truly get going offensively. UCLA presents a similar dynamic. Their pitching is a hair worse than Arkansas but that offense can strike often.

UCLA does want to show a better closing effort on Monday.

It will be fun to see how UCLA looks going up against the more experienced LSU. While Coastal Carolina continues to ride the wave, LSU just keeps on winning.

The Under will be closer to losing out in this matchup, but is still our preferred choice on Monday night.

Once again, I like LSU to keep the score down just enough, win on the moneyline, and cover the spread Monday. The Tigers are +110 to win by there or more runs over UCLA on Monday night.

The College World Series continues on Monday afternoon, and it’s a critical game between Arkansas and Murray State. The winner continues in the tournament, while the loser goes home. On the campaign, the Razorbacks were 48-14 while contending with a brutal SEC schedule, while the Racers were 44-16 out of the MVC. The winner faces the loser of the UCLA vs LSU game Monday night. Murray State has never won the College World Series, while Arkansas has made the championship game twice (1979, 2018) but fell in the final both instances.

The books heavily favor Arkansas over Murray State, with opening pitch set for 2pm ET on Monday, June 16, at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, with ESPN/ESPN+ providing coverage.

Arkansas vs Murray State Picks & Predictions

• Arkansas runline (-135 at DraftKings)

Both of these clubs are squaring off following losses. Arkansas dropped their contest against LSU 4-1 on Saturday, and Murray State was on the losing end of a 6-4 battle against UCLA. The Razorbacks were the favorites the College World Series odds, but have since drifted to the +600 third choice, while the Racers are by far the longest shot at +30000.

Arkansas had been riding high with five straight victories and seven of eight, but their offense dried up against LSU, resulting in just one run, their lowest output of the season. They allowed three runs in the second frame against the Tigers, and couldn’t generate much against LSU ace Kade Anderson, who gave up just one run on three hits in seven innings of work.

The Razorbacks will send Gage Wood to the bump Monday afternoon. He’s been their second starter throughout this postseason, pitching in important games versus Creighton and Tennessee. He allowed just one run in 3.1 innings against the Volunteers in the Super Regionals, and whiffed 13 Bluejays batters in a start prior to that.

Murray State faces a steep uphill battle to win the College World Series, not the least of which starts in this contest. They’ve been inconsistent the last six outings, winning three, but also falling in three. The latest one was 6-4 to UCLA, where they trailed 6-0 by the fourth inning and weren’t able to mount a shocking comeback.

As of publication, the Racers haven’t revealed who the starting pitcher is going to be, but the squad needs to figure out their staff quickly. Prior to giving up ten total runs the last two games, they’d surrendered at least seven in five straight, including outings coughing up 19 runs once and eleven runs twice.

Can the Racers summon more magic that made Dan Skirka the national coach of the year? The odds certainly aren’t in their favor in this one, as they square off with a team so heavily expected to emerge victorious.

Murray State could take advantage of starter Gage Wood, if he pitches like he did in the regular season, which was a pedestrian 5.02 ERA. As previously noted, however, he’s been strong in this postseason run, allowing four runs in 9.1 innings.

There’s no super fun value bet to go with, if you’re inclined to believe the oddsmakers are right with Arkansas. The moneyline -500 isn’t in any way enticing, but the run line of -3.5 is at least something you can stomach at -135.

Coastal Carolina vs Oregon State Prediction

Following a loss to the College of Charleston on April 22nd, Chanticleers manager Kevin Schnall made a bold statement that his team would not lose again for the rest of the season. It was quite a proclamation, but it was mostly ignored. Perhaps, the college baseball world should have taken him more seriously.

Since then, Coastal Carolina has won 24 straight games. They breezed through their conference tourney, then swept the Regional and Super Regional rounds. They faced red-hot Arizona on day one of the CWS, and promptly dispatched them 7-4. The Chanticleers pitching is beyond elite at this point, and they’ll send undefeated Jacob Morrison to the hill tonight.

Morrison surrendered only a single run over 6 innings in a Super Regionals win over Auburn, striking out 6. It marked the seventh time in eight starts he’s yielded 1 run or less, and the victory improved his record to 11-0. The Chanticleers staff boasts the second lowest ERA in the nation, while Morrison and their other top-two starters have combined to allow only 0.38 home runs per start.

Oregon State does boast a powerful lineup, led by future MLBers Aiva Arquette and Gavin Turley, but they’re extremely strikeout prone and can struggle versus above-average arms. They managed only four runs and one extra-base hit in the CWS opener, striking out ten times against Louisville starter Patrick Forbes, and twice more versus Cardinals relievers.

CCU vs ORST Offensive Stats

Coastal Carolina’s lineup meanwhile, is not typical of a College World Series odds contender. They don’t hit for power, but they do get on base and manufacture runs. The team averages 15 base runners per contest, and has a 79% stolen base success rate. Dating back to their last regular-season series, they’re averaging eight runs per contest, and have seen a significant boost in their clutch-hitting metrics.

They also face a tough matchup tonight versus Beavers starter Ethan Kleinschmit. The sophomore has allowed two runs or fewer in three straight starts, and was phenomenal in the Super Regionals against Florida State. He held the mighty Seminoles to only two hits and two runs over 6.0 innings, striking out 11.

With both starters entering in solid form, this game will likely be decided by the bullpens. That’s where the Chanticleers have a major advantage, and the combination of Morrison and the CCU relievers are why I’m picking Coastal Carolina to continue its incredible winning streak.

The Chanticleers bullpen ranks fifth nationally in ERA, and 18th in WHIP. They pitched five innings in their CWS opener, yielding only three hits to the Wildcats.

The Beavers’ lineup has shown it can be neutralized by quality arms, and Coastal Carolina literally possess an entire stable of them. Morrison is a nightmare to go up against, and there’s no relief once the bullpen gets involved. I expect the CCU lineup to scratch and claw their way to enough runs to outlast Oregon State in a low-scoring affair.

The winner of this game will face the loser of Coastal Carolina-Oregon State. As it’s a double-elimination format, the winner of from the elimination bracket would need to win both from the team in the Winner’s Bracket.

Because both schools are perilously close to having their seasons end on Sunday, the College World Series odds have Arizona (+1400) and Louisville (+1700) with the second and third longest odds in the field.

Arizona vs Louisville Picks & Prediction

With the stakes this high, I expect this one to be close.

The Cardinals suffered just their second loss in NCAA Tournament play, and it was about as devastating as you can describe it.

Trailing 3-1 in the ninth, Louisville plated two runs to tie the game, only to be get walked off by the 8th-ranked Oregon State Beavers.

It was a classic, low-scoring Cardinals’ type of game, as they’ve allowed three or fewer runs in five of seven postseason games. Both times their opponents topped that number, they’ve lost.

They will start either junior righty Tucker Biven (3-0, 4.19 ERA) or freshman lefty Ethan Eberle (6-2, 4.34 ERA) in the win-or-go-home scenario. Neither of them pitched in the previous meeting between the two teams on Feb 16, when Louisville bashed its way to a 13-1 win.

Arizona’s starter Sunday is freshman righty Bailey Smith (3-3, 4.01 ERA), and he started that February game, pitching four innings of 3-hit ball with five strikeouts before the wheels fell off.

Smith will try to get the Wildcats to shake off their opening loss to Coastal Carolina, where a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the eighth before surrendering three runs to lose 7-4.

It’s only the Wildcats’ second loss in postseason play as well, as they swept the regionals before going the distance with 5th-ranked North Carolina in the Super Regionals — winning two straight after getting bombed 18-2 in the opener.

Louisville was just outside the Top 50 in scoring at 7.8 runs per game, but it’s been a different story in the postseason, where the Cardinals are plating 5.3 runs per game.

Arizona has punched up in the playoffs, averaging 7.3 runs across its seven games, a jump from the 6.6 runs per game they put up in the regular season.

Louisville does have an upset win over top-seeded Vanderbilt, but Arizona took down a heavily favored Tar Heels team in the Super Regionals. The Wildcats lost back-to-back games after win just three times in the regular season, while it happened to Louisville five times.

In the slightest of margins, Arizona should have just enough offense to push the Cardinals out of the College World Series, though likely not enough to cover the spread.

The 2025 College World Series continues on Sunday with two games, including the first elimination contest of this double-knockout tournament. That game is up first between Louisville and Arizona, but before we dive into that matchup, let’s go over my favorite pick for Sunday’s slate.

College World Series Picks for June 15

That would be scorching-hot Coastal Carolina over Oregon State at -140 odds. The Chanticleers have won 24 straight games, last losing on April 22nd. Coastal Carolina seemingly always has runners on base, and boasts the superior pitching staff. We’re also targeting the Cardinals in our favorite College World Series picks, as they should be able to feast on an underwhelming Wildcats staff.

College World Series Prediction #1: Coastal Carolina Moneyline

The Chanticleers don’t hit for power, but they boast elite OBP and base running stats. They enter play with a .410 on base percentage, averaging 15 base runners per contest. They’ve been successful on 79% of their stolen base attempts, and their clutch hitting is off the charts.

Jacob Morrison will take the ball for Coastal Carolina on Saturday, and he’s been money in the bank throughout the entire season. Morrison boasts an 11-0 record, and a tiny 2.15 ERA. He surrendered only a single run over 6 innings in the Super Regionals win over Auburn, marking the seventh time in his last eight outings he’s allowed 1 run or less.

There’s no question that Oregon State’s lineup is potent, but they’re also extremely strikeout prone. Look no further than their opening game against Louisville. They mustered just 4 runs and one extra-base hit, but were bailed out by some impressive pitching of their own.

This game will likely be decided by the bullpens and that’s where the Chanticleers biggest advantage lies. Their relievers rank fifth nationally in ERA, and 18th in WHIP. They pitched 5 innings in their CWS opener, yielding only 3 hits.

Coastal Carolina boasts shorter College World Series odds than the Beavers, and I’m betting their incredible winning streak continues.

College World Series Prediction #2: Louisville Moneyline

As for the first game in the loser’s bracket, I’m backing Louisville due to their superior lineup. The Cardinals boast a tremendous amount of power and average over 9 runs per game. Seven players boast an OPS over .900, with five of them smacking 12+ home runs. This team is also a menace on the base path, racking up 155 steals so far.

Arizona’s lineup is a cut below, hitting 24 fewer home runs, and averaging 2 full runs less per contest. The starting pitching matchup is a wash, as neither team is trotting out a real innings eater. Both Tucker Biven and Raul Garayzar struggle to go deep into games, which means we’ll see plenty of relievers from both sides.

That tilts the scale even further of Louisville’s favor, as the Wildcats bullpen has a 5.48 xFIP over the past 11 games, and has surrendered 19 runs over their past four outings.

The Cardinals narrowly missed out on upsetting Oregon State on Day 1, and I’m betting they keep their College World Series dream alive by knocking off Arizona.

The College World Series features eight teams in a double-elimination format with two brackets of four teams each. Both LSU and Arkansas are among the top two favorites to win the 2025 Men’s College World Series.

LSU vs Arkansas Picks & Predictions

• LSU and Arkansas Under 9.5 Runs (-122 at FanDuel)

We get a very good matchup from these two SEC teams as lefty Kade Anderson takes the mound for LSU. On the other side, Zach Root starts for Arkansas. Both pitchers are capable of going deep in ball games. Anderson struck out 163 batters this season and was 13th in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 5.82. Do not forget that 14.24 K’s per 9.

Root has been equally incredible during the 2025 season, posting a 3.59 ERA and an 8-5 record through 17 starts. The opposition batted a mere .221 against the 6-2 left-hander. Root struck out 13 batters in 13 innings, allowing only one earned run in postseason play. 

Anderson went 10-1 with a 3.58 ERA during the season. Root faced LSU earlier in the season and was in line for the win (2 ER in 6 IP). However, the LSU bats got to the Arkansas bullpen in a 5-4 triumph.

However, LSU is always more well-known for its pitching. Look at how the Tigers won another National Championship in 2023 with Paul Skenes and the Tigers’ bullpen. It is no exception this season. Casan Evans may be a Freshman, but his six saves and 1.90 ERA in 17 appearances are a real game-changer as a stopper. Arkansas is no slouch as a pitching staff (3.91 ERA, 646 K’s in 522 IP), and they are the third seed. LSU is sixth. However, the experience tells the tale.

LSU has won seven championships in all. This is Arkansas’s first MCWS appearance.

The Tigers have won nine of the past 13 series against the Razorbacks. Furthermore, LSU is well-rested, which makes them even more dangerous. Arkansas carries the top offense in the SEC, but against LSU, the Razorbacks have struggled in critical moments. The Aloy (Wehiwa and Kuhio) brothers have combined for 33 home runs and 134 RBI’s.

Again, LSU does not have to mash the ball here. Simply, the Tigers must be patient against a fiery pitching staff. If the Razorbacks do not let the nerves get to them, that will make them an even tougher foe.

It is no secret Root and Arkansas have revenge on their minds.

It will be interesting to see how Arkansas responds on the big stage. We saw Coastal Carolina find a way to extend their winning streak on Friday against Arizona.

As much as the Over is tempting, the Under in what feels like a pitcher’s duel is more likely on Saturday night.

Instead, I like LSU to help with the game total and win on the moneyline this Saturday. The Tigers are second among the eight teams at +250 to win the National Championship and -106 to win their College World Series opener. Let it ride!

To call Murray State (44-15) the Cinderella of this year’s College Baseball World Series would be selling the Racers short. They’re like a Cinderella on steroids. Murray State was picked to finish fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference this season, yet now they’re one of the final eight teams standing.

As heartwarming as the story is, online sportsbooks refuse to give the Racers any credit. They’ve pegged them as heavy underdogs versus UCLA (45-16) in the first game of Bracket 2 in the CWS, but I think they have the ingredients to keep this contest close.

Murray State vs UCLA Predictions

Even at 11, I’m predicting these two teams exceed the total on Saturday. The Racers lineup continues to produce regardless of who’s on the mound in front of them. UCLA starter Michael Barnett isn’t an elite arm as we’ll discuss, despite what his win-loss record looks like.

Murray State’s Nic Schutte is far from a mega-talent as well, and he’s vulnerable against a very strong UCLA lineup that boasts the best prospect in the country in Roch Cholowsky.

Speaking of prospects, you won’t find very many future Major Leaguers on the Racers roster. According to scouts, only catcher Will Vierling is even draft worthy. The lock of upside hasn’t stopped Murray State from scoring in the regular season or playoff rounds. They’re slashing .307/.422/.508, while averaging 9 runs per game. The Racers rank 16th nationally in OPS, and boast the 12th lowest strikeout rate versus righties like Barnett.

As for the Bruins starter, yes he’s won 12 games, but he doesn’t generate swings and misses at a high rate. He’s averaging fewer than three Ks per nine innings over his last three starts, and has yielded 12 hits and four runs in 10 playoff innings so far.

Murray State should be able to get runners on base and, when they do, they’ve proven all postseason long that they can capitalize from any spot in the lineup.

Nick Schutte vs Michael Barnett Stats

Back to Schutte, who’s been roughed up in all three of his postseason outings. Last time out, he coughed up five hits and five runs in a loss to Duke, walking three and striking out only one. His struggles extend back to the regular season, as he’s now surrendered at least four runs in four consecutive starts. Not only is Schutte ripe for the picking, but the rest of the Murray State staff is as well. Over the last 11 games, that unit is allowing 8.6 runs per contest.

The lack of pitching depth and star talent explain why the Races own the longest College World Series odds. UCLA not only features Cholowsky, the Big Ten Player of the Year, but seven additional players that project as fifth-round draft picks or higher. Cholowsky is the crown jewel, however, hitting .376, with 23 home runs, and 73 RBI.

The Bruins have averaged 10 runs per game since Regional action started, and haven’t lost since the Big Ten Championship Game versus Nebraska. They boast the fifth shortest odds to win the College World Series, something they last accomplished 12 years ago.

Murray State vs UCLA Best Picks

• Over 11 (-110)

I expect UCLA to score early and often against Schutte and Co. Murray State will have the opportunity to punch back, as the matchup against Barnett is one they can handle.

Pat yourself on the back if you grabbed over 9.5 runs when the odds for this game opened. I still think there’s value on over 11, and that’s how I’ll be attacking this matchup.

There are a couple of dandy matchups in store for Saturday’s action at the College World Series from Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.

Saturday’s early game features the UCLA Bruins taking on the Murray State Racers, while the Arkansas Razorbacks battle the LSU Tigers in the late game, which is also a matchup of the two highest remaining seeds and the last two teams from the powerhouse SEC.

All CWS games will be broadcast live on ESPN/ESPN+. Read below for my College World Series picks and best bets for Saturday, June 14.

College World Series Pick #1: Murray State vs UCLA

The Murray State Racers are just the fourth No. 4 seed to make it to the final eight in the CWS since the current format was set up in 1999.

They will try to keep an interesting mid-major streak going: a World Series title every eight years. That would follow in the foot steps of Fresno State in 2008 and Coastal Carolina in 2016 (yes, it’s 2025, but COVID wiped out the 2020 tourney, so it’s eight years after the Chanticleers’ historic run).

The Racers mashed their way to Omaha, piling up 53 runs across four games in the Oxford Regional, before taking out the Duke Blue Devils in three games the Durham Super Regional.

While they were held to five or fewer runs in two of the games, Murray State still managed to explode for 19 runs scored in Game 2.

They’ll try to do something no team has done yet since the NCAA Tournament began: hang a loss of the 15th-ranked UCLA Bruins.

UCLA dismantled the opposition in the LA Regional, scoring 38 runs across three wins, then crushed UTSA in two games in the LA Super Regional.

The Bruins have averaged 10 runs a game so far, and they’ve yet to have a game settled by less than three runs.

Both the Racers and Bruins line up eerily offensively, with both squads hitting around the .300 mark, both pouring in over 500 runs on the year, Murray State totalling eight more hits, and the teams banging out an identical 78 home runs.

The team ERA’s aren’t much to write home about either, with Murray State at 4.94 and UCLA at 4.47.

Expect a lot of offense in the opener for both teams — it’s all they’ve done since stepping foot in the dance.

CWS Pick #2: Arkansas vs LSU

This could be the best game of the College World Series, and it’s just the opener between titan progams Arkansas and LSU.

The Razorbacks and Tigers are the last of 13 SEC teams that originally punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament, but they’ve both been impressive in arriving in Omaha.

Arkansas swept through the Fayatteville Regional with ease, then took two in a row of Tennessee in the Super Regional. Their undefeated path included just one game decided by a single run, with the Razorbacks outscoring the opposition 41-13.

Their pitching, which ranked fourth in the SEC with a 3.91 ERA, has been lights out in the postseason, as they allowed three runs or less in four of their five games, giving up four in their Super Regional finale, an 11-4 win over Tennessee.

The 6th-ranked Tigers needed a winner-take-all finale over Little Rock to get out of the Baton Rouge Regional, but other than a 10-4 loss to Little Rock, LSU has rolled the opposition.

They opened the NCAA Tournament with shutout wins over Little Rock (again) and DBU before that 2-game playoff to get out of the regional, then they thrashed West Virginia in the Super Regional, outscoring them 28-14 across two wins.

If you’re scoring at home, LSU has touched double digits in four of five postseason games, scoring 61 runs total.

As stellar as Arkansas’ pitching has been, their 3-game set with LSU in mid-May offers plenty of insight into how these teams battle. The Razorbacks took two of three, but the two teams topped their 9.5 scoring line in two of the three games, missing the third Over by a single run.

Offense and the Over should reign supreme again in this matchup.

The College Baseball World Series gets underway on Friday with unranked Louisville (38-21) facing #8 Oregon State (47-14-1) in the second of two games on the day. Online sportsbooks are siding with the Beavers ahead of this matchup, although I believe these two teams are much closer than the odds suggest.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm ET at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, with ESPN and ESPN+ providing the coverage.

Louisville vs Oregon State Odds

Oregon State is currently a -200 moneyline favorite, and is laying 1.5 runs on the spread at -105 odds. The Cardinals come back as +160 underdogs, while the total sits at 9.5.

Louisville vs Oregon State Predictions

As of Thursday evening, only Cinderella Murray State has longer College World Series odds than Louisville. The Cardinals have never won a national championship, but are making their eighth trip to Omaha, and first since 2019.

The Beavers are also making their eighth trip, but have three national championship trophies to show for their previous seven visits. Oregon State made its way out of the losers bracket at Regionals, and then rallied from an opening game loss at Super Regionals to advance to this stage. They’ll be looking to buck that early loss trend this week in the double-elimination format.

That might be easier said than done. Louisville won all three Regional games, knocking off #1 Vanderbilt along the way. They then prevailed in three games over Miami at Super Regionals, punching their MCWS ticket.

The Cardinals are one of the few teams that can match the firepower of the Beavers. Louisville has scored 66 more runs than Oregon State, despite playing four fewer games. They’ve also racked up 76 more hits, and boast a better batting average and slugging percentage.

LOU vs ORST Offensive Stats

The Cardinals hit for both power and average, but their real advantage is on the base path. They’ve converted 155 of 175 stolen base attempts so far this year, which has gone a long way to help manufacture runs. They should find success in that department on Friday, as Beavers catchers have thrown out only 26% of base stealers thus far.

As for the pitching matchup, neither team has a major edge. Louisville will send ace Patrick Forbes to the mound, who’s been a postseason star. Forbes allowed just two hits and two runs in a Regionals win over ETSU, striking out 16. He followed up that start with 5.2 innings of one-run ball versus the Hurricanes, striking out nine. The righty ranks 13th nationally in strikeouts, averaging 14.6 K’s per 9 innings.

Oregon State will counter with Freshman Dax Whitney, who’s been just as impressive. He’s allowed only three runs over his past two starts, with 22 strikeouts in just 10.2 innings of work. Whitney ranks 14th nationally in K/9 rate, and the only knock on him is that he doesn’t often go deep in games. He’s failed to get out of the 5th inning in six of his last nine outings, including last time out versus Florida State.

The Beavers bats meanwhile, were completely neutralized in Games 1 and 2 versus the elite Seminoles starters at Super Regionals. The lineup came alive against weaker competition in Game 3, but versus another talented arm in Forbes, it could be a similar story.

Oregon State strikes out a ton, which will be amplified against Forbes. The Beavers rank 218th nationally in strikeout rate, and 232nd against righties like Forbes.

To make matters worse for Oregon State, there will be no relief once Forbes exits the game. Louisville’s bullpen has yielded only five runs in six postseason games. They boast a three-headed monster in Wyatt Danilowicz, Jake Schweitzer and Brennyn Cutts, who’ve combined to surrender only five hits and one earned run in 13.2 innings. The Trio have been big K producers as well, fanning 15 batters over that stretch.

Louisville vs Oregon State Picks

• Louisville Cardinals +1.5 (-125) at bet365

This contest profiles as a low-scoring affair, which is why I’m grabbing the +1.5 on the Cardinals. They have the ability to give the Beavers fits when they get runners on base, and their pitching can expose the Beavers biggest weakness. I’ll also take a little slice of the Louisville moneyline at +160, as it’s not hard for me to envision Oregon State starting another playoff round with an opening game defeat.

The College World Series begins Friday afternoon, with the double elimination round starting between Arizona (44-19) and Coastal Carolina (53-11). The winner goes on to face whoever emerges victorious between Louisville and Oregon State. The last time Wildcats won the MCWS was 2012, while the Chanticleers last took it in 2016, when they defeated Arizona in the final.

The books are favoring Coastal Carolina over Arizona, with opening pitch set for 2pm ET on Friday, June 13, at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, with ESPN/ESPN+ providing coverage.

Arizona vs Coastal Carolina Odds

The Chanticleers are strong -230 favorites on the moneyline, an implied win probability of 69.70%. The Wildcats, meanwhile, are +175, an implied probability of just 36.36%. Coastal Carolina is -1.5 (-130) on the runline, and the total is set at 9 runs with -115 odds each way. The winner faces the victor of Louisville/Oregon State, while the loser is up against whichever team drops the Cardinals vs Beavers contest in the first elimination game of the 2025 CWS.

Arizona vs Coastal Carolina Picks & Predictions

• Coastal Carolina runline (-130 at DraftKings)

None of the eight teams remaining in the CWS made it last year. Neither Arizona or Coastal Carolina are the favorite to win it all in the College World Series odds, a distinction that goes to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Arizona was in the midst of an awful stretch in May, dropping five of six contests, but has since rebounded to take ten of its last eleven. That one loss was to North Carolina in the Chapel Hill NCAA Super Regional, where the Wildcats were pasted 18-2. Arizona recovered to win the final two games of the best-of-three set (10-8 and 4-3) to qualify for the CWS.

Coastal Carolina have had a better run of it, having not lost since April 22nd, with a whopping 23-game winning streak, longest active stretch in the nation. In the Super Regional, they dispatched Auburn 7-6 and 4-1 to get to this point. They have the third shortest odds to win it all at +600, which makes sense given they’re favored pretty handily in this one.

Previous Five Men’s College World Series Winners

No winner in 2020 due to COVID

No team has entered the MCWS with as many consecutive wins as Coastal Carolina since the NCAA Tournament went to its current format in 1999. The Chanticleers 53 wins are most in the nation in manager Kevin Schnall’s first year, following the retirement of Gary Gilmore. It’s their first appearance in the big dance since winning it all versus Arizona in 2016.

The Wildcats are back in the College World Series for the first time since losing both contests in the 2021 edition. For the season, they ranked 49th in the nation with a 4.82 ERA, which reared its ugly head in the aforementioned 18-2 loss to UNC in Game 1 of the Super Regional. Contrast that to their counterparts, who had a sparkling 3.21 ERA, second best of anyone.

Should Arizona have a late lead, they’ll have the utmost confidence, as their closer Tony Pluta was named 1st-team All-American by NCBWA. He had a sensational 1.26 ERA, securing saves in Arizona’s clinching victories in the Big 12 Tournament and Super Regional at North Carolina. He also notched the win in Game 2 of that series.

Arizona’s offense, however, has been wildly inconsistent of late – in five of their last nine outings, they’ve been held to four runs or fewer. On the flip side, in those other four contests, they’ve racked up at least ten runs each time.

Meanwhile, Coastal Carolina has been excellent at preventing runs, which could really stymie the Wildcats. In seven of their last ten affairs, they’ve surrendered two or fewer runs, which is absolutely lights out. Given that they’re the better squad and the pitching is fantastic, I’m inclined to go with Coastal Carolina on the runline at -130.
