Bengaluru / Rohan Sharma. It was a big day for the men’s suit brand P N RAO, which is based in Bengaluru. Their slogan “FINE SUITS SINCE 1923” really says it all: finesse, style, class, and beauty. In fact, if you walk into a party wearing a P N RAO fine suit, everyone will turn to look at you. P.N. RAO has built a strong reputation for dressing suit experts in the best of the best suits. In its centenary year, it is preparing to attract women with a unique style, finesse and grace in a range of clothes for stylish women who know what they like.

The eagerly expected women’s collection will start with eight pieces in four categories: two each for Women’s Business Wear, Women’s Smart Casuals, Women’s Tuxedo/Ceremonial attire and Women’s Ethnic Wear. From the tried-and-true house of P N RAO, the women’s wear line, like the men’s wear line, is sure to make people stop and take a second look.

At a glitzy Fashion Show, models walked the runway and showed a sneak peek of the much-anticipated women’s collection to Bengauru’s Who’s Who and executives from global brands that make fabrics. The brand also showed off its famous men’s wear Centennial Collection, which was made up of 10 styles and patterns in the same four categories and was made to celebrate the brand’s 100 years of success.

The new women’s line, which was made in-house, stands out because it is made of a material that isn’t used in many other women’s clothes. Wool, Polywool Lycra, and Ethnic Fabrics like Silk and Brocades are used to make P N RAO’s suits for women. The suits are full of wealth, class, and finesse, which are P N RAO’s trademarks, and are a “must” for today’s stylish women.

Naveen Pishe, Partner at P N RAO, said this about the company’s move into the women’s wear market: “Since we have a long history of making the best suits for men, many women have asked us to make suits for them. There aren’t many good women’s suits on the market, especially when it comes to fabrics. This led us to ask, “If WE, with all the experience we’ve gained over the years, can’t make women’s suits, then who can?” We started making patterns, and after a year, we were able to meet the needs of the segment by taking into account their likes, dislikes, design tastes, and body shapes.

“The market for women’s business wear is still growing, and we think it will be ready in about 5 to 7 years,” said Naveen Pishe. “By then, we want our women’s business wear to be the first thing people think of when they think of our brand.”

At first, the women’s wear line will only be offered as custom orders in two of its showrooms in Bengaluru: M G Road and Indiranagar.

Ketan Pishe, Partner, P N RAO, spoke about the fabrics, patterns, and colours of suits for women’s wear. He said, “Compared to a men’s suit, we have taken great care to choose the right kind of fabric that gives it stretch, which is more appropriate for a lady. In line with what was expected, the first basket of products will have bold stripes or checks and bright patterns that women can usually pull off well.

At the end of the night, as a fitting tribute to 100 glorious years of a company that has stood the test of time and grown stronger, P N RAO honoured 100 famous people who, like P N RAO, have brought name and fame to Bengaluru and helped it grow. Bengaluru has a lot of successful people in business, art, sports, and music. These people have put the city on the map around the world. Ketan Pishe said, “Honouring the great people from our city is our way of saying ‘Thank You’ for all they’ve done. Without them, Bengaluru wouldn’t be what it is today.”
